Geoffrey Chaucer is famed for writing The Canterbury Tales. The medieval era stories of pilgrims experiences whilst travelling to worship at Canterbury Cathedral remain a literary favourite to this day.

Geoffrey Chaucer

Chaucer was born c1343. He was a member of parliament with bureaucratic and diplomatic roles. Whilst most noted for his poetry, he also wrote a treatise on the Astrolobe for one of his children.

On 26 October 1400 Geoffrey Chaucer passed away. His family continued to be influential, his granddaughter Alice Chaucer becoming a Duchess and Lady in Waiting to Queen Margaret, consort of Henry VI.
