The Education (Administrative Procedures) Act of 1907 set up a number of systems for schools. Many of these related to the health of children, with some looking to enable high standard school places for poorer schoolchildren.<\/strong><\/p>\n Under the legislation local authorities were to set up medical inspection units. Over the course of their schooling years, each child would be given a medical examination on no less than three occasions.<\/p>\n Grant aided schools had to provide free, means tested, places. This was based on the previous years intake and saw an increase in the number of free places of 25% of higher.<\/p>\n From 1912, medical treatment in schools would be free. Remember that this was before the introduction of the National Health Service.
