They did this by implementing changes to the education system by creating \u2018out of school\u2019 youth movements.<\/p>\n<h2>Youth and Education in Nazi Germany<\/h2>\n<h3>Education<\/h3>\n<p>The German Minister of Education (Bernhard Rust) said \u201cThe whole purpose of education is to create Nazis.\u201d To do this the Nazis changed the school curriculum to contain what they saw as the main needs, military skills for boys and domestic skills for the girls.<\/p>\n<p>The Nazis placed great emphasis on the learning of:<br \/>\n\u2022 History \u2013 to show the greatness of the Nazis.<br \/>\n\u2022 Biology \u2013 to teach \u2018race science\u2019 which highlighted the superiority of the Aryans.<br \/>\n\u2022 PE \u2013 to get boys fit for the Army and girls fit to be mothers.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that the German youth were taught corrected, all teachers had to swear loyalty to Hitler and join the Nazis Teachers League.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/schoolshistory.org.uk\/topics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/berhardrust.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1594\" src=\"https:\/\/schoolshistory.org.uk\/topics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/berhardrust-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/schoolshistory.org.uk\/topics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/berhardrust-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/schoolshistory.org.uk\/topics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/berhardrust.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Bernhard Rust, Minister for Education, inspecting a school.<\/p>\n<h3>Youth Movements in Nazi Germany<\/h3>\n<p>Membership to Nazi Youth Movements was made compulsory. These were for young people of a variety of ages. There were separate groups for boys and girls, these groups put an emphasis on different aspects of life and they were taught different things depending upon which group they were involved in. Boys went on outdoor activities such as hiking and camping., and then later were taught more about ideology and military training. Girls were taught how to care for their health and prepare for motherhood.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk\/e\/cm?t=schoolshisorguk&amp;o=2&amp;p=8&amp;l=as1&amp;asins=076603268X&amp;fc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;lt1=_blank&amp;m=amazon&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;bc1=000000&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;f=ifr\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Boys:<br \/>\nPimpf (Boys aged 6-10)<br \/>\nDeutschejungvolk (German Young People, boys aged 10-14)<br \/>\nHitler Jugend (Hitler Youth, boys aged 14-18)<\/p>\n<p>Girls:<br \/>\nJungmadel (Young Maidens, girls to the ages of 14)<br \/>\nBund Deutscher Madel (League of German Maidens, girls ages 14-21)<\/p>\n<p>Activities of these groups were shown in Propaganda films as being very popular. The numbers in the movements gradually increased but the attitudes of the members of the groups were sometimes different to those of the Nazis.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Nazis killed off many other official youth groups which had been attached to other political parties.
