Bereavement<\/h3>\n

Bereavement was an inevitable part of wartime life. Soldiers fighting for their country are at an obvious risk of injury and death. No matter how common death is though, it is still difficult to deal with. The documents that follow comprise an example of correspondence received by Captain Maskell from the family of one of his men, who had been killed in action. The matter of fact nature of the letter is quite revealing, as is the determination to carry on and get the job done.<\/p>\n
