Course Delivery

The course is a week by week online course lasting twelve weeks. It is hosted on a Moodle Virtual Learning Environment hosted by schoolshistory.org.uk. Each weeks course materials will take between one and two hours with additional materials available to extend should you wish to. Users will receive their login details for the unit via e-mail in December before schools close for the Christmas holidays. Please ensure that you enter your email address correctly when booking.

Resources and activities used in the course delivery:

          • Video, some to enhance your subject knowledge, others suggested as stimulus material for lessons.

          • Podcasts, where appropriate links to subject-specific podcasts will be provided. These are designed to boost your understanding of the various areas covered at GCSE and A-Level.

          • Reading material. With an emphasis on ‘Knowledge Rich’ learning, the course will provide examples of the latest academic research into relevant areas.

          • Resources and Activity Ideas. Both supported with explanation and opportunities to discuss different approaches.

          • Interactive tasks. Some for you to try, others for you to consider using with your classes.

          • Structured discussions. Based on teaching and learning issues/techniques.
